Kenneth B. Gilbreath, 86, of Westville, passed away at 2:15am, Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. He was born on April 14, 1923, in Westville, IL, the son of Clyde and Pansy (Davis) Gilbreath, both deceased. He was married to Dorothy Kuras on May 13, 1943, in Covington, IN, until her passing on October 22, 2000. He is survived by: his son, Greg (Teresa) Gilbreath of Westville; his grandchildren, Nancy (Eric) Barfell of Westville, Kenny Gilbreath of Los Angeles, CA, David (Amber) Reik of Westville; his great grandchildren, Arial, Brandon, Brittney, & Haylee Barfell, & Brodie Reik; his brother, William Bill (Connie) Gilbreath of Danville; and his sisters, Marge Camp of Collison & Nancy (Terry) Bishop of St. Joe. He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Betty Reik; and his brothers, Ray Gilbreath & Jack Gilbreath. Kenneth worked for General Motors Tilton Foundry for 30 years as a supervisor. After retiring in 1976, he sold real estate and also did real estate appraisals. He also taught real estate sales at DACC. He later became manager at the Westville Credit Union and was instrumental in construction of the new building. Kenneth was a Veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in the Acorn Division. He was a member of the American Legion Post #51 in Westville. He was a member of the Danville Board of Realtors. Ken was an avid golfer and also a Cubs fan, as well as Bears fan. He enjoyed watching Illini sports. He cherished his family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, July 2, 2009, at St. Marys Church, 231 N State St, Westville. Father Timothy Sauppe will officiate. Visitation will be 4p - 8p, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with a Rosary to be held at 4pm. He will be laid to rest in St. Peter & Pauls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Kens name to St. Marys School.
