Kelly J. Chesnut, 83, of Oakwood, passed away on June 30, 2014 at his home. He was born on December 19, 1930 in Danville, the son of Oakley and Ruth (Trimmell) Chesnut. He married Sharon Fox and she preceded him in death. Kelly will be deeply missed by daughter, Priscilla Steinburg, stepson, Scott Bloomfield, stepdaughters, Robin (Tim) Webb, Dawnn Bloomfield and Tammy Bloomfield, grandchildren, Nick Steinburg, Robby Steinburg, Jeff (Amanda) Chesnut, Jennifer Cockrell, Jeremy Chesnut, Heather Chesnut, Matthew Chesnut and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Jeffrey John Chesnut. Farming was Kellys life, growing up on a farm and had a tremendous work ethic. He was a true gentleman farmer. He worked the fields and recalled his father walking behind a horse and plow before they bought their first tractor. Kelly was known for planting the straightest rows in the area, known as “corn row guy” and “planter man” before he retired. Besides God being first in his life, his family was the most important thing in the world to him. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren so much and was so proud of each of their accomplishments. Cant forget his dog “Sally” whom he cherished. Kelly loved the mountains of Colorado and was able to make many trips there for his leisure time in his lifetime. He loved to fish, Harley motorcycles, airplanes, loved to travel, going to historical events, birds and world news. A celebration of Kellys life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood. Memorials can be made in Kellys name to the American Heart Association or St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
