Kelli Lee Pierce, 56, of Fithian died peacefully after a brief battle with cancer, on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was surrounded by family and her long-time friend, Ginny (Clark) Modlin. She was born on May 21, 1963 in Danville, the daughter of William and Barbara (Hill) Wonderlin.
Kelli attended St. Pauls Elementary School, Schlarman High School, and Danville Junior College. She loved everyone she met and enjoyed bringing joy and happiness to others at every opportunity. Her loving and gentle heart and infectious smile will be deeply missed.
Kelli loved and was dedicated to caring for animals all of her life. She studied for and obtained a federal and state permit which authorized her to nurture and care for injured or sick wild animals until they recovered and were able to return to nature. She worked at Fairchild Animal Hospital for 33 years and became office manager in 2004.
Kelli is survived by her loving husband, Rodney Pierce; her mother, Barbara Neff of Sun City West, AZ; stepson, Eryk Pierce; step grandchildren, Sawyer, Harper, and Collins of Aiken, SC; her adoptive father, Robert Neff of Danville; and nephews, Scott Neff of Watseka, IL and Shawn Neff of Lafayette, IN.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Wonderlin, and brothers, Alan and Scott Neff.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating the service will be Pastor James Blue. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville at a later date. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Kellis name to the Fairchild Animal Hospital.
