Keith D. Nicholson, 88, of Carlinville, Illinois and formerly of Catlin, Illinois passed away on July 4, 2010 at his residence. Keith was born March 27, 1922 in Castleton, Indiana son of Linus D. and Anna Pearl Nicholson. He married Alice G. Clark on September 22, 1942. She preceded him in May of 2009. He is survived by his son: Richard (Carolyn) Nicholson, son-in-law Greg Moore; grandchildren Chris (Jessica) Moore, Rachel (Aaron) Watson, and Ryan (Katie) Moore; great-grandchildren: Aubren Watson, Otis Watson, and Ethan Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Everett Nicholson, two sisters Nelda Wise and Grace Kilgore, a daughter Shirley Kay Moore, and a grandson Marcus Nicholson. Keith was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana and had served four years in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during WWII. He worked for General Motors for thirty-four years until retiring in 1981. Keith was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ and served as church treasurer and elder for many years. He was a Catlin Village Commissioner for fourteen years and was chosen as its Citizen of the Year in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Club of Catlin. He was a member of the Masons for 63 years, receiving his 50-year pin in 1997. Keith loved sports and was an avid follower of the St. Louis Cardinals since the Gas House Gang of the 1930s A Celebration of Keiths Life will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, July 9, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor Darren Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
