Keith L. Boen, 90, of Danville, left his earthly home to join his loved ones with Christ on October 4, 2014 at 2:49 pm. He had been a patient at Palliative Care Service at the VA Illiana Health Care System for the past several weeks. Keith was born August 6, 1924, in Glidden, Iowa, son of Raymond and Ruth (Eaton) Boen. He married Mary Catherine Sandlin on March 9, 1946, until her passing on September 27, 2000. They had two sons, Roger (Darlene) and Kevin, who preceded Keith in infancy. Also surviving are: one sister, Sherry Kobi; three grandchildren, Robert (Stacey), Amy (Jim), Abby (Kevin); five great grandchildren, Jena, Jake, Sydney, Lincoln and Tyler; and one great, great grandchild, Wrangler. On May 22, 2004, Keith married Virginia Kizer and gained three step children, Philip (Sherry), Brenda (Jay), Karen (John), seven step grandchildren Michael, Andrew, Bobbi Jo, Brandy, Jeremy, Kim and Jacob. Keith served three years in WW2 in European Middle East earning a Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, 4 Bronze Battle Stars, WW2 Victory Medal, Honorable Service Medal and Expert Badge and Carbine Bar. He retired from C&EI (CSX) Railroad after 34 years and served on the C&EI Credit Union Board as Chairman for 31 years. He was also a member of Central Park Church of Christ. Keith was a very giving person helping many families in their time of need. His favorite past time was attending Auctions, Yard Sales and watching NASCAR races. The family would like to thank Dr. Craig Elliott and his wonderful caring staff at Palliative Care Services, VA Illiana Health Care System. A celebration of Keiths life will be held on Wednesday October 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Home in Westville. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Luke and Wade Martin. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday October 7, 2014 at 4:00pm until 7:00pm. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Park Church of Christ or a family in need as Keith believed in helping families, especially those with children.
