Kathy Richardson, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 15, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville. Born on December 28, 1963, in Danville, Illinois, Kathy’s vibrant spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
A 1982 graduate of Covington High School, Kathy was honored as Homecoming Queen and loved participating in cheerleading. Throughout her life, she held many roles—including business owner of a coffee shop and specialty drink trailer, dance coach, and gymnastics instructor—but her favorite title was “Nina” to her grandchildren.
Kathy expressed her love for life through art. A gifted painter, she found joy in creating beautiful works and sharing her talent with her children and grandchildren. She also cherished time spent at the beach and never missed an opportunity to admire a sunset, always appreciating the beauty in the world around her.
She was a dedicated member of First Assembly Church in Covington, where she built deep, meaningful connections within her faith community. Her nurturing heart touched many, but especially her family, who remained the center of her world.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Charlie Richardson, and her children: Eric (Kerri) Burke, Daren (Lachelle) Burke, Keith Burke, Jakkob Richardson, and Lindsay Richardson. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Delilah, Scarlett, Blain, and Reid. She is also survived by her father, Tony (Linda) Shuman, and her aunts, Sharron and Deb, along with many other cherished family members.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmothers, Helen Shuman and Ladoris Smith, as well as her dear rabbit, Tank.
Per Kathy's wishes, she will be cremated and placed to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington following a private graveside service for her immediate family. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. at the Covington First Assembly of God, located at 421 Market Street in Covington, Indiana. Donations in Kathy's name may be made to the Covington Boys' Youth Baseball League (at P.O. Box 142, Covington, IN 47932) or the Covington Girls' Softball League (at P.O.
