Kathryn Ryback

Kathryn M. "Kay" Ryback, 95, of Westville, joined her loving husband on October 17, 2016, at 7:15 p.m. surrounded by her three children. She was born on August 10, 1921, to Frank and Pauline Krstulovich in Chicago, IL. She is the last of 11 children in her family. Kay married Ron Ryback on December 31, 1946. They moved to Westville in 1957. Ron and Kay had three children: Ron (Donette) Ryback of Charlotte, N.C., Barbara (Nick) Cole of Columbia, S.C., and Ben (Teresa) Ryback from Westville. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Molly Ryback, Kelly Gordon, Scott Ryback, Jennifer Cole, Erik Cole, Ashley Wagoner, and Chase Ryback. Her life was further blessed by ten great grandchildren: Alex Cole, Ethan and Rylie Gordon, Jaden, Ben, and Ryan Cole, Ainslie Ryback, Myka Wagoner, Bryant and Madysen Ryback. Kay was proceeded in death by her husband, Ron. Kay loved her family and was always the happiest when she could cook for her family. You never left her house hungry. She also loved playing bingo, slot machines, and cards. She looked forward to her trips to Forest Glenn to count deer. She knit booties for family and friends and baby hats for the hospital. A joy in her life was Mary Thompson, her friend and caregiver. She was a ray of sunshine to Kay. Prior to her husband's death, they traveled all over the United States, visiting family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Monday, October 24, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Father Deus officiating. Visitation will be held 1pm-5pm, Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville. She will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in her name to Carle Hospice Care.
