Kathryn Ann Parks

Kathyrn Ann Parks, 90, of Danville, IL., passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville.

Kathy was born July 16, 1933, the youngest of eight children, in Fairmount, Illinois, daughter of the late Edward E. and Opal S. (Baird) Brandon.

She married Gerald "Gary" Parks on July 14, 1990, in Santa Cruz, California, and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2019.

Surviving are her children: Dave (Dena) Moreman, Ed (Teresa) Moreman, Brenda Rhodes and Lisa Abdelghani; her step-children: Lawrence (DeAnna) Parks, Denise Barr, Susan Andrews and Tim Parks; her grandchildren: Kathryn, Gretta, Flahnery, Taylor (Lindsay), Ryan, Jeffrey (Charlotte), Laila (Blake), Yasmeen, Sam, Nora, Lawren (Sam), Haylee, Hayden, Marissa, McKenzie, Justin (Jen), Eric (Erin), Adam (Karina), Garrett (Kitty), Zach, Andrew (Anjelica), Jenna, Brandon (Taylor), Garrett, Sierra (Zeth), Katie, Savannah, Samantha, Shaina, Austin (Tonika), and several great and great-great grandchildren and many special friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by a stepson: Scott Parks, a son-in-law: Paul Rhodes; four sisters: Frances, Opal, Thelma and Elnora; and three brothers: George, Joe, and Edward Jr.

Kathy graduated from Fairmount High School in 1951. She retired from G.E./Valmont in 1992 after working there for 26 years. Kathy enjoyed traveling to all her grandchildrens ballgames and all the school functions the grandchildren were involved in. She loved traveling to visit family, walking on the beach and collecting seashells. Kathy was born on a farm, so it felt natural for her to retire on a farm and live out the last years of her life. She loved making others laugh and enjoyed getting out a good joke every now and then. She took great pride in her garden, her flowers and her beautiful yard. Feeding the birds and watching hummingbirds at the feeder brought her great joy. Above all, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Kathy will be held at 10AM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from 9AM-10AM Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in Kathys name may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
