Kathleen Louise Maley

Kathleen Louise Maley, 74, of Champaign peacefully passed away at 2:23 p.m. Sunday, (April 23, 2023), at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, surrounded by her family who loved her very much.

Kathleen was born May 1st, 1948, in Champaign, Il., the daughter of James Maley Jr. and Pauline L. (Schmidt) Maley. Her only brother, Steven M. Maley proceeded her in death in June 2003.

Survivors include her children, Kelli (Oliver) Davis, Troy (Jodi) Davis, and Michael (Bianka) Davis. Grand-children, Alexandria (Josh) Evans, Brendon Davis, Savannah (Nick) Ortiz and Arizona Dalton. And several great-grandchildren.

Kathleen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Savannah and Arizona. She and Savannah would often go shopping together, and she and Arizona went to countless action movies. When she wasnt spending time with them, she was an avid sports fan, spending most Sundays watching the NFL. She was a life-long fan the Fighting Illini football and basketball teams and the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved reading and enjoyed spoiling the many pets she had over the years.

Kathleen retired from the National Council of Teachers of English, where she worked as a mail room clerk for 20+ years. After retiring from there, she worked at the Champaign Meijer in the general merchandise department for a few years before transitioning to the position of greeter. She then transferred to the Urbana Meijer at a greeter where she was very much loved by her co-workers.

Cremation rights have been accorded by Sunset Funeral Home, Champaign. Visitation and Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 4th, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign.
