Katherine Zimmerman

Katherine Kate Zimmerman, 87, of Danville, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009. Kate was born August 26, 1922 in Danville, one of seven children born to the late Harley C. and Ora K. (Spencer) Day. She married Ralph Zimmerman on September 22, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1995. She leaves behind two brothers: Tom (Mary) Day, who she raised since he was nine years old, and Darrell Day both of Danville. She also leaves behind a sister: Charlotte McCollum of Downey, CA; a sister-in-law: Beverly Day of Danville; five grandchildren: Kathy (Ron) McGullion of Magnolia, Texas, Donna (Steve) Knarr of Naperville, Susan (Terry) Everingham of Georgetown, Gary (Jenny) Day and Ronnie (Nadine) Day both of Danville; twelve great grandchildren: Daniel Becker, Tyson (Angela) McGullion, and Jay Williamson all of Texas, Jason Knarr of Round Rock, Texas, Jermey Knarr of Naperville, Chris, Rachael, and Elizabeth Everingham all of Georgetown, Wesley, Mitchell and Sarah Day all of Danville and Nalani Day of Danville; four great-great grandchildren: Hannah Becker, TyeLynn and Brody McGullion and Lincoln Williamson all of Texas; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Gus and Paulie Day, a sister: Marie Osborn; a sister-in-law: Boots Day and two brothers-in-law: Paul McCollum and Clyde Osborn Sr. Kate was a beautician by trade and for many years was an officer of the Daughters of the Mokanna Gao Caldron of Danville. She was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of the life of Kate Zimmerman will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home of Danville. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 pm on Monday, December 21, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Kates name to the organization of the donors choice.
