Katherine Ross

Katherine Ross, 83, of Danville, IL passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Katherine was born February 8, 1936 in Edom, Texas. She was the daughter of Henry and Lillian Geurin.

Katherine married Robert Ross on August 9, 1952 in Waco, Texas. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in Kansas, where she also completed cosmetology school.

Katherine was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing the organ, singing, and telling stories from her life. She gave herself endlessly and was dedicated to her family with a never-ending love. Katherine made friends everywhere she went with her kindness and charm. She also loved spending time with her great-grandson, Aven.

She was preceded in death her husband Robert; her parents; brother, Howard "Buddy" Geurin; and two sisters, Linda Bracken and Bobbie Bentley.

Katherine is survived by her son, Shane Ross of Sidell; grandchildren, Darren (Morgan) Ross of Covington and Britny (Anthony) Ashby of Danville; great-grandson, Aven Ashby; sister, Jeanette Spencer of Texas; her beloved companion of many years, Jerry Biederman; her lifetime best friend, Billie Whaley of Texas; as well as nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
