Katherine Jean "Kitty" Lee

Katherine Jean “Kitty” Lee, 85, of Danville, IL passed away at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL on February 8, 2026 at 12:26 AM.

Katherine was born on July 27, 1940 the daughter of Max and Dorothy (Zillman) Scarlett in Danville, IL. She married Hershall E. Lee on November 8, 1975 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2012.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer (Colin) Hess of Danville, IL, Sylvia Lee of Las Vegas, NV and Larry Lee of Las Vegas, NV, two grandchildren, Victoria Hess of Danville, IL and Stephanie (Dominick) Haywood-Muzio of Las Vegas, NV, two great grandchildren, Nicholas Muzio and Mia Muzio as well as two siblings, Ruth (Steve) Pratt of Danville, IL and George Scarlett of Danville, IL and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great great-nieces great great-nephews.

Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hershall Lee and two sons, David Grinestaff and Daniel Grinestaff.

Katherine was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Trinity Lutheran School in Danville, where she formed a lifelong friendship with Linda Grinestaff.

She enjoyed working at Goff Rug Company and Marie’s Carpet Manor in Danville. She briefly lived in Brevard, North Carolina, and maintained close connections with her dear friends there long after returning.

A devoted homemaker and creative spirit, she loved shopping, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. She was talented at sewing and crocheting, often creating beautiful handmade items for those she cared about. One of her favorite pastimes was faithfully watching her beloved soap opera, Days of Our Lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, Illinois,1930 North Bowman Avenue, Danville, Illinois 61832. Reverend James Yonkers will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the church.
