KATHERINE “KAY” LOIS BEST BRANNACK DANVILLE - Katherine “Kay” Lois Best Brannack, age 92, died Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Hawthorne Estates, Danville, Illinois; 4 days short of her 93rd birthday. Kay was born February 17, 1921 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the daughter of William W. and Esta Burrell Best. Kay is a sinner saved by grace, by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She is now in the presence of her Lord holy and without blemish, without spot or wrinkle in her eternal soul. (Ephesians 2:8-9 and Ephesians 5:25-27). Kay was proceeded in death by her husband, Donald J.C. Brannack; her parents; three sisters, B. Louise Briggs (Wegee), Helen E. Baker, Bette M. Smith; one brother, Rodger W. Best and their spouses. She was the last in a long line of dearly loved Brannack in-laws. Seven sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and their respective spouses. She was the last of our familys “greatest generation”. She leaves behind to rejoice in memories two sons and two daughters: Donna Kay (Emery) Childers of MI; Michael R. (Debbie) Brannack of GA; Larry W. (Shirley) Brannack of MI, and Melanie A. (F. Dennis) Stevenson of IL. Seven grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; C. Todd (Anne) Childers, Mark E. (Jody) Childers, Robert D. (Carrie) Childers, Lisa Brannack, Brian T. (Jerusha) Brannack, David M. (Stephanie) Brannack, Adam W. Brannack, Katrina L. (Jim) Stevenson Kotowski, Ginger K. (Brad) Stevenson Passalacqua and Mitzi (Faris) Hopper Sahaweh. Twelve great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews and their families. Kay was a member of Danville First Church of the Nazarene where she actively participated in the “prayer chain”. She was appreciated, respected and loved by her church family, as well as other churches during her lifetime. Kay was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). A mother figure to many of her childrens relations and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of intelligence, humor, graciousness, uncompromising integrity and unconditional love. Visitation for friends and family in Danville, IL will be at Danville, IL First Church of the Nazarene on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 4-7 pm. Visitation for friends and family in Rochester, MI will be at Modetz Poteres Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 11-1 pm with the service directly following at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial in Mt. Avon Cemetery, Rochester, MI. The Reverend David Anderson, of Danville, IL First Church of the Nazarene will be officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations to Danville First Church of the Nazarene, Danville, IL; Faith Baptist School, Atherton Rd., Davison, MI or a charity of donors choice. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a life celebration home, in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
