Katherine J. Mayoras

Katherine J. Mayoras, 88, of Danville passed away at 6:58AM Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette, IN, following a long illness. Born in Danville to Frank and Clova (Adams) Shelato on June 13, 1916. She was a graduate of Danville High School in 1935. She married Andrew J. Mayoras on August 1, 1936 in Danville, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Also surviving are five sons, Richard (wife: Barbara [Daly]) of West Lafayette, IN, Don (wife; Joanna [Kacmar]) of Goshen NY, David (wife: Sally [Bash]) of Northville, MI, Daniel of Irving, TX, daughter-in-law, Sharon Mayoras of Aurora, CO. and Douglas (wife: Tina [Sayre] of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are eighteen grand- children and eighteen great-grandchildren. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Violet Oakley, Louise Major, and Elizabeth (Libby) Wildman, and three brothers Orville, Clarence, and Robert Shelato. Mrs. Mayoras was a homemaker, but worked for some years as the manager of Schlarman High School's cafeteria. She was a member of Holy Family Church. Active in both Holy Family (St. Patrick), and Schlarman PTO. She also was an avid sports fan (especially football) and loved to play golf.
