Katherine Cox, 84, of Danville, passed away at 5:35 AM on Tuesday February 21, 2012 at Danville Care Center. Katherine was born on January 13, 1928 to Hugh and Sophie McBride in Elizabethtown, KY. She is survived by two daughters-Janelle (Gary) Burton of Danville and Sherrie (Rick) Jones of Danville, five grandchildren- Nathan, David, Carrie, Jeremy and Jordan, four great-grandchildren- Chance, Lanie, Ty and Coy. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter and son-in-law-Judy (Gene) Smith. Katherine was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church of Danville. She worked at Leon's Restaurant for many years. Katherine loved crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, bingo, TV show "Creature Features", walking, McDonalds breakfast and animals. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helpful hand. Katherine's family would like to extend a special thanks to Passages Hospice and Danville Care Center. A Celebration of Katherine's Life will be held on Friday February 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Rod Godley officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM before the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Walnut Corner Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Katherine's name to C.A.R.A.
