Katherine R. England, 86, of Danville, passed away at 2:21p.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Katherine was born on February 24, 1923 in Walterboro, South Carolina, the daughter of James P. and Janie (Jorden) Carter. She married Wayne L. England on May 26, 1943 in Walterboro. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1999. Survivors include one granddaughter, Lori Ann (Brian) Granger of Colorado Springs, Colorado, two great-grandchildren, Katherine and Caleb Granger, one brother Herman Carter of Walterboro, and one sister Irene Bazzle of Duncan, South Carolina. Her parents, husband, one daughter, Rosella, one brother, Jack Carter, and one infant brother, preceded her in death. Katherine worked as a nurses aid at Lakeview Hospital, retiring with seventeen years of service. She attended Cornerstone Christian Church. Katherine was a member of CRIS and volunteered at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. She enjoyed playing card games and working crossword puzzles. Katherine loved her family and friends. A celebration of life for Katherine R. England will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at the funeral home and from 1-2:00 p.m., on Tuesday before the service.
