Karen West

Karen Lynn West- Danville Karen left this world to join her beloved husband, Bob, early morning on Monday October 26, 2015. She was the oldest child born to the late John Robert and the late Doris Jean (Sandlin) George on June 1, 1949. She attended Danville Schools, graduating from DHS in 1967. She then attended and graduated from Lakeview Memorial School of Nursing as an R.N. in 1970. She worked in pediatrics at St. Elizabeth from 1970-1979. She also worked at Lakeview Hospital in surgery from 1979 until 2004, when she then retired. She married her high school love, Robert Wayne West, in 1969, he preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded by both sets of grandparents, parents, a brother, several aunts and uncles and grandson, Arik Norwell. She is survived by sister, Deborah (Tom) Rinehart; two daughters, Kimberly (Stephen) Cotton and Karla (Jerry) Norwell, II; one son, Kevin (Dannielle) West; 7 grandchildren, Taylor (Kevin) Holman, Tyler West, Blake Norwell, Alia Norwell, Makayla Norwell, Courtney Meeks, Austin West and one great-grandchild, Paisleigh Holman. She loved to read, crochet and raise Chinese Shar-Pei dogs. She was also a member of the Danville Area Women's Bowling Association at one time. Most of all she loved spending time with family. A celebration of Karen's life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
