Karen M. Stevens

URBANA - Karen M. Stevens, 71, of Urbana, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Illini Heritage Rehab and Health Care in Champaign. Born April 6, 1944 in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Robert and Barbara Lamb. Karen was a graduate of Central High School in St. Paul. She married Howard Dodd in St. Paul, Minnesota. He preceded her in death. Later in life, Karen married Robert Stevens in Waterloo, Iowa. He also preceded her in death. Karen was a member of St. Luke's Church. She loved watching TV, some of her favorite shows being various soap operas, and Steve Harvey. Her grandkids were her pride and joy, she loved any time she was able to spend with them. Karen enjoyed reading, especially the Bible. Her dog, Pinky, was one of her best friends. She loved sharing ice cream with him. He passed away late last year. Karen is survived by four children, Barbara Dodd of California, Damien Dodd of California, Jemal Dodd of Urbana, and Robert Stevens of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; eighteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Howard Dodd, and Robert Stevens; and one son in infancy. A memorial service to celebrate Karen's life will be held at 11 am Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Stone Creek Church in Urbana. A memorial has been established in her memory for Stone Creek Church. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign.
