Karen J. Wright

Danville Karen J. Wright, 74, of Danville passed away at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her home. She was born April 19, 1949 in Danville to John "Jack" R. and Margery R. (Bahls) Smith. She married David A. Wright on July 31, 1971 at the Bismarck United Methodist Church. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Beau (Renee Frantini) Wright of Wilton Center, IL and Nicolas (Ariel) Wright of Danville; five grandchildren, Athena and Getorix Wright, Rachel Fisher, and Brett and Hannah Frantini; and a brother, David J. (Lori) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her baby sister, Kathy Jo Smith.

After earning her Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Illinois University, Karen went on to earn her Masters in Education from the National College of Education.

She spent six years teaching at Catlin Jr. High School / High School and spent the remainder of her career at Bismarck-Henning High School. There she spent the next twenty-eight years in the English and Math Departments helping students to succeed in their education journeys.

While Karen enjoyed reading and traveling, spending time with her family and friends was her favorite pastime. She cherished her kids and grandkids and was a member of the "AKA Gang," which was the name she and her friends gave their social group. She will be missed by them all.

Family and Karens closest friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM on Saturday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials made in Karens name may be made to Bismarck Blessings in honor of her many years dedicated to teaching.
