Karen Dean Russell

Champaign - Karen Dean Russell, 75, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born on July 29, 1943 to John T. and Celia B. (Cook) Smith in Champaign. Karen married Owen "Bud" Russell on December 29, 1962. Karen leaves behind her husband; sons Doug (Goldie) Russell of Anchorage, AK and Bill (Megan) Russell of Champaign; grandchildren Stephanie (Jonathon) and Stacy; great-grandchild Avery; brother David R. (Beverly) Smith; and her ornery dog Maggie. She was preceded in death by her parents. Karen worked at the FSA office for over 30 years and she loved her job. She raised purebred sheep and was a member of the Home Extension women's organization. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Karen's family would like to thank Harbor Light Hospice for their support, especially Catherine and Christine. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at a future date.
