Karen Ann Johnson

Karen Ann Johnson, 47, of Westville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Karen was born on August 14, 1976 in Danville to parents Marianna and Duaine Kresin. She attended Chrisman High School and graduated with the Class of 1994. Karen continued her education at Blackburn College where she earned her bachelors degree in psychology. In August of 2001, Karen married Aaron Johnson and together they raised 4 incredible children, Cody, Kylie, Abigail, and Cai. Her greatest joy in life was being a mom.

Karen was a daycare teacher, first at the YMCA and then later at Central Christian Church. It was a job she truly enjoyed. However, when the opportunity to stay home with her children full-time presented itself, there was nothing more Karen could have hoped for. She always thought of others first and had the most generous heart. She was never seen without a smile on her face. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. Karen was an excellent cook, which her family would attest to, and often gained inspiration from the numerous cooking shows she would watch. She also was a part of the Thirty-one team "Sunflower Dreamers" and St. Marys Catholic Church. She built many friendships in both.

Her sweet, beautiful spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband and children; her mother Marianna (Warren Evans) Taylor; and siblings Becky (Andy) Hicks, Will Kresin, and Eric (Kelsi) Kresin. Also surviving are 8 nieces and nephews, and her mother-in-law Barb (Marlin) Shanks. She has been reunited with her father in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Marys Catholic Church, located at 231 N. State Street in Westville. Father Sauppe will be officiating. A visitation will be held prior to Mass from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Church. She will be laid to rest at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Karen Johnson Benefit account directly at the Longview Bank in Georgetown to benefit her children. Online condolences and fond memories can be shared with her family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
