Kaden Thomas Orr passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
Grief is a heavy cloak that weighs on the heart, a silent scream that echoes through the soul. No combination of the 26 letters in the alphabet is enough to describe Kaden, a whirlwind of memories and emotions that crash like waves against the shore of my being. He was a bright light extinguished too soon, leaving a void that can never be filled. In the quiet moments when his absence is most keenly felt, I grasp at words that slip through my fingers like sand, unable to capture the essence of what he meant to me. Grief is a language all its own, spoken in tears and whispers, in memories that both comfort and wound.
From the day he entered this world in Danville IL on July 26th, 2003, Kaden brought an unparalleled brightness to all who knew him. His journey took him through different places like Mahomet IL, Covington IN, and Lafayette IN, but his spirit remained constant – a beacon of kindness and love. Kaden's blue eyes held a warmth that touched everyone he met, making strangers into friends with his infectious smile and genuine compassion. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, never hesitating to offer help or share a smile.
Kaden graduated from Covington Community High School in 2021. After that he attended culinary school in Indianapolis.
He played baseball in high school and loved sports. His wisdom for sports was beyond belief. He knew every play when it happened, and if it was going to happen. He would talk your ear off for hours about sports. You would come out more knowledgeable about the sport you would communicate with him about.
Kaden loved video games. Very rarely would you beat him at one of his games. He was fast when it came down to thinking. Always ten steps ahead in the game. He took that very seriously. You would not beat him. If you did you would wear it proudly and then he would beat you the next twenty times. That’s just how Kaden was. He loved sports and video games.
Kaden's spirit was a free-spirited wanderer who found solace in the diverse landscapes of Colorado, the vibrant culture of Mexico, the sunny shores of Florida, and countless other corners of the globe.
Kaden always had the windows down listening to music in the car with the wind in his hair and one arm out the window just enjoying life. His spirit was free, his laughter infectious. Kaden's memory will live on in the songs that he loved and the roads that he traveled because oh boy didn’t he love to just go have fun. Kaden's light will continue to shine bright in our hearts, a reminder of the goodness and joy he brought to the world.
Kaden:
Kaden is a light.
Kaden is the definition of joy.
Kaden is the peace when you need it.
Kaden is the calm in the storm.
Kaden is the laugh when things are not funny.
Kaden is the person you call just to talk.
Kaden is the rainbow after the storm.
Kaden is love.
Kaden is the late-night drive buddy.
Kaden is always late to every event.
Kaden is gone and none of us know how to even fathom it.
In the beginning, I stated that there are not enough letters to describe Kaden and I meant that. This isn’t fair and we will never know why but we will all live on in your memory and I hope we make you proud.
Kaden was very much a mental health advocate.
He would want you to seek help if needed.
Turn to the memories and find joy in them.
I love and miss you forever buddy.
