K. Louise Cohoon, 78, of Georgetown, Illinois passed away on February 11, 2026 at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman. She was born on May 26, 1947 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Walter and Roberta Pershing.
Louise attended the ISU extension where she received her nursing license, setting the foundation for a career that would touch countless lives. Beyond her professional achievements, she had interests that showcased her creativity and passion for life. She found joy in reading, often losing herself in the pages of a good book. Her artistic side flourished through crocheting, a craft that allowed her to express her talents and share beautiful creations with those around her. She also had a knack for crafting wood signs. She also enjoyed exploring flea markets, where she reveled in the hunt for unique treasures.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her sister Laura McKenzie. Louise is survived by her husband of 27 years, Thomas Cohoon; her children Robert (Sondrea) Letner, John (Margina) Greenlee, and William Carpenter; Thomas’ children Sharon Adams, Mary Ellen Greenburgh, and Matthew Cohoon; and her grandchildren Jordan Carpenter, Emily Greenlee, Natlee Greenlee, Jonathan Greenlee, Eli Greenlee, Jasmyne Letner, Jalisa Letner, Robert Letner II, Aubry Greenburgh, Teddy Greenburgh, Janet Greenburgh, Anna Adams, Christian Adams, Marrisa Cohoon, Jon Everheart, and Elizabeth. She is survived by her great-grandchildren Mya Graves and Ana Murphy as well.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home’s Houghton Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown, Illinois. She will be laid to rest with a graveside service at the Danville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
