Justus "Albert" Bailey, 94, passed away Monday, March 7 at the Illiana Veterans Administration in Danville. Known to most as "Albert" he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Pilkington) Bailey. Born in Danville, Albert was the son of Jacob Aldus and Mabel Bailey. He was one of nine children including five brothers, Jacob (Bud), John, Guy, Robert and Charles as well as three sisters Marian, Barbara, and Alice. He is survived by only Alice Mannin who lives in Salem, Oregon. Albert was father to three children, Michael McKenna (Sue) of McKinney, TX, Patricia Boyd (Bruce) of Catlin, and Sue Faas (Ted) of Redondo Beach, CA. He was loved by his five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren Albert worked for New York Central Railroad early in his career then was employed as a foreman by McCalman as well as Barker Construction Company for many years. Once retired, Albert enjoyed woodworking, gardening, travelling throughout the U.S. to visit family, and caring for his home and land. He received an award for 65 years of active service in his Labor Union Local 703. He was a member of VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed University of Illinois basketball and was an avid reader. He also loved working and framing jigsaw puzzles. Albert was a WWII Vet who helped build the railroad throughout Persia that was used by the Allied troops. His final months were spent in the loving care of many wonderful nurses, CNA's and Doctors at the Danville VA Community Living Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Danville. Visitation will be 2-4 pm with the service following at 4. Memorial donations may be made in Albert's name to the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders at 3940 N Vermilion Danville, IL.
