June Uthe

Danville - Uthe June L. Uthe, 87, of Danville IL., left us at 12:37 pm on Tuesday June 4, 2013 at Carle Hospital in Urbana IL with her family by her side. She was born on April 27, 1926 in Gary IN., to William and Bertha (Teegarden) Fidler. She married Eugene Uthe on October 8, 1949 in Tinley Park IL. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2002. June is survived by her sons Jeffery C. (Donna) Uthe of Wyoming MN. and Scott (Marianne) Uthe of Danville IL.; daughters Carol A. Schmidt of Zion IL. and Ellen R. Uthe of St. Anne IL.; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Eugene. June graduated high school and went on to attend the Art Institute of Chicago before devoting her life to raising her family. A member of the Orland Park United Methodist Church June gave her time as a lay reader and a Sunday school teacher. She also provided her voice for book recordings for the visually impaired in Champaign. A passionate artist she was a part of the Danville Art League, worked as a Docent at the Krannert Art Museum and an Art Historian for Liberty School. In her off time June loved to golf, was an avid reader and always enjoyed time spent with her family. A celebration of June's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 7, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Philip McGarvey officiating and burial at Manns Chapel Cemetery in Rossville IL. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday June 7, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given in June's name to Carle Hospital Cancer Center or the Vermilion County Museum, Manns Chapel Renovation project.
