June Marie Cratz

Danville - June Marie Cratz, 89, of Danville passed away at 8:51 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at her home in Danville, surrounded by her family. June was born on December 18, 1928 the daughter of Harry S. and Lillie E. (Whitlock) Hanks in Brocton, IL on her family farm. June attended Eastern Illinois University for two years, studying business. June married Charles H. Cratz on December 23, 1950 in Brocton, IL. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2007. Survivors include her children; Elizabeth (Harry) Baxter of Champaign, IL, Rebecca (David) Ainslie of Pinehurst, NC, and Brian (Tammy) Cratz of Brentwood, TN, one sister; Nora Decker of Burr Oak, KS, five grandchildren; Sarah (Mitchell) Wilson, Brent (Megan) Baxter, Drew Ainslie, Karl (Katy) Ainslie, and Erik (Taryn) Cratz, as well as three great-grandchildren; Henry and June Wilson and Charles Baxter. June is preceded in death by her parents, son; Andrew Bruce Cratz, three sisters; Helen Hanks, Pauline Hanks, Mae Wilcoxon and grandson; Charlton Cratz. Charlie and June moved their family from Champaign to Danville in 1956. Raising her family came first to June, but she also found time to serve at Ridgeview Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. She served in many capacities and felt a special calling as a Deaconess. After her children left home she was an accountant for Charlie's business and managed her family farm. She was an excellent seamstress, a wonderful cook, and especially loved being a grandmother to her six grandchildren. June will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 3838 N Vermilion Street Danville. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Mark Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville, IL.
