Danville – June Margaret Connor, 85, of Danville, passed away at 3:30 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center. She was born on August 9, 1940, in Danville to John and Anna (Maziek) Stotts. She was formerly married to Roger McKee Connor with whom she had two beautiful children. June and Roger remained close until his passing in 2021.

June is survived by her two children, Michael John Connor of Danville and Annie (Greg) D’Amico of Champaign; a sister, Anne Esslinger; and special nieces and nephew, Susan (Ron) Lewis, John Esslinger, and Lisa Esslinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

After high school, June went on to earn her Master of Education at the University of Illinois. She spent most of her career teaching kindergarten at Meade Park Elementary school in Danville. For over 30 years, June was a driving and compassionate influence on the lives of all her students. Her devotion was always present in the lives of her own children as well, and as a mother, June provided a constant and loving environment for them. June’s contagious smile and positive attitude were always able to light up the room and will be remembered by all that knew her. Her role as a caretaker extended to her love of animals and her willingness to volunteer her time for them further highlighted her caring nature. June was also a woman of great faith and had been a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville.

Per her wishes, there will be no services for June Connor at this time. Cremation has been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61834. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Danville Humane Society.
