Danville Julius Hegeler, 91, of Danville passed away at 4:42 AM at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL on July 5, 2019.

Julius was born on May 9, 1928 the son of Edward and Madelle (Goodloe) Hegeler in Danville, IL. He married Bobette Steely in 1956 in Danville, IL and she preceded him in death in 1976.

Survivors include his two daughters, Alix Hegeler of Sunderland, MA and Madelle Hegeler of Boca Raton, FL, one son Harlin Steely Hegeler of Ukiah, CA.

Julius is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bobette, one sister Madelle Semerjian and one brother, Edward Hegeler.

Julius proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a Fighter Pilot and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. During his time in the service, Julius received numerous citations and awards and ultimately, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Clusters. Julius received his bachelors degree from Millikin University in Decatur, IL. For many years Julius was very philanthropic with many charities in the Danville and surround communities. Julius loved his community and always strived to make it a better place for all who live here.

Private Services were held for Julius. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 assisted the family with arrangements. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

For those wishing to honor Julius with memorials, it would be his desire that the donor consider a contribution to a local charity. Julius always felt strongly about people supporting and loving their community.
