Danville - Julia “Julie” E. Andrews of Danville, went home to be with the Lord on her 79th birthday, December 20, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Julie was born on December 20, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Henry and Louise Bottomley. Julie married Gordon Andrews on October 11, 1975 in Danville and enjoyed many years of wedded bliss together until his passing on April 21, 2009. Julie is survived by two special nieces Laura (Carl) Kagawa of Urbana and Jennifer Skirpan of Danville whom she considered to be her daughters; nephews David Bottomley of Florida and Bill (Jan) Hill of Oakwood; nieces Kathy Erickson of Florida, Christine Boggess of Heyworth; great-nephew Blake Erickson of Florida; great-nieces Amber Wise and Mackenzie Erickson of Florida, and Kayla Goetzelman of Danville; brother-in-law Robert “Bobby” (Marcele) Andrews and sister-in-law Marilla Bottomley all of Florida; and her special dog Mikey. Julie is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Louise, her husband Gordon Andrews, brother Henry Bottomley, sister Marian Skirpan, and niece Susan Sandford. Julie had a wonderful and full life, she was the youngest member to be in the American Legion Axillary club at just ten days old. Julie was a devoted member to the First Presbyterian Church in Danville and of their Bible Study group. She worked at Bohn Aluminum for over 35 years and was a proud member of the U. A. W. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Gordon, they even went on a trip of a lifetime to Ireland and Scotland. She and Gordon enjoyed watching Indy Car and NASCAR racing, and owned numerous Corvettes. Julie loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She was a former member of the Corvette Club in Danville and the Red Hat Club. Julie had the gift of gab, loved to tell stories, and never met a stranger. Julie was a T. O. B. (Tough Old Broad) until the Lord called her home. She will be greatly missed. A service to celebrate the life of Julia “Julie” E. Andrews will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11 am. Pastor Jimmy Hopper will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm on Monday, December 22, also at Sunset Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Julies family asks that you donate to the First Presbyterian Church of Danville or the Danville Humane Society in her name.
