Judith Rose Schackmann, 89, of Danville died at 1:00 am Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Judith was born on February 5, 1917 in Fairmount, Illinois daughter of John and Nettie Sanks Mitchell. She married Anthony Joseph Schackmann on September 1, 1951 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Danville. He preceded her on November 24, 2001. Survivors include nieces: Pam (David) Baird, Diana (David) Winn, Janice (Rocky) Young, and Patti Mitchell. Nephews: Terry Dunavan (Kyung Hee), Robert Mitchell (Rita), and Stephen Skip Mitchell (Mary), Andy Schackmann; several great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. Also a special lifetime friend: Clara Shockley. Judith was a graduate of Danville High School and Danville Beauty School and had also worked as a draftsman at Lloyd Kirby Surveyor and at Vermilion County Abstract. . She enjoyed cross stitch, square dancing, tole painting, and sewing. Judiths life was devoted to caring for her parents; especially her mother that suffered many years with MS. Judith was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Paul & Donald Mitchell, Sister: Mary Dunavan, and niece: Karen Mitchell Petkovich. A Celebration of Judiths life and Catholic Mass will be 11:30 am Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville; with Rev. Gregory Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 " 11:00 am Tuesday morning at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Catholic Church.
