Judith Sawyer

Judith Sawyer 83, of Georgetown passed away on Saturday December 23, 2023, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville with her family by her side. Judy was born January 7, 1940, in Georgetown, the daughter of Joseph and Thelma (Cook) Drotos Jr. Judy married the love of her life Cliff Sawyer on October 4, 1959. Cliff survives.

Also surviving Judy are her Children; Eric (Debbie) Sawyer and Lori Starwalt, her grandchildren; Alyssa (Dillon) Neff and Tyler Starwalt, and one great granddaughter Riley Neff.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

Judy worked as a Bank Teller in Georgetown then moved up to the Palmer Bank, she later was the Georgetown City Clerk, her final job was being the Administrative Assistant to the Vermilion County Sherriff. Judy was involved in many groups including Georgetown Ladies Community Club, Georgetown Library Board, and Georgetown Youth Football League. Judy was a Master Gardener; she loved flowers and would find new flowers to bring home when she went out. Sometimes she would bring home a start if she needed to. She loved to cook and bake for everyone she loved. Judy enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles on her tablet. She and Cliff enjoyed being avid Cubs and ILLINI fans, enjoying games in person or on the TV.

A celebration of Judys Life will be held at 10am on Friday December 29, 2023 at Sunsets Georgetown Funeral Home at 200 East West Street in Georgetown. With burial to follow in Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday December 28, 2023, from 4-7pm. Memorials may be made in Judys name to Vermillion County Humane Society or Georgetown American Legion Post 203.
