Judith Ann (Barnard) Powell, 67, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Danville, passed away at 3:25am on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at her residence in Decatur. She was born on December 23, 1941, the daughter of George and Anna (Bannon) Barnard. Both deceased. On July 5, 1959, Judith married Wilson (Bud) Powell. She was a home maker most of her life, and is survived by her six sons, David (Amy) Powell of Decatur, Jeffery (Rhonda) Powell of Potomac, Charles (Karen) Powell of Goreville, James (Carolyn) Powell of Hobart, IN, and Johnny Menges Jr. of Decatur. Her two daughters, Penny (James) Davis of Decatur, Alida (Mike) Swingler of Decatur, and her daughter-in-law, Connie Powell of Highland, IN., also survive Judith. Her nine grandsons, Michael (Robin) Powell of Lowell, IN, Justin and George Powell of Hobart, Travis Powell, Josh Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, all of Decatur, Martin and Christopher Powell of Goreville, and Jon Powell of Potomac as well as her three granddaughters, Amy Buchanan, Tiffany Powell, both of Decatur, and Rachael Powell of Hobart. Her three great-grandsons, Cameron and Austin Buchanan of Decatur, Tyler Powell of Lowell, and her great granddaughter, Emily Short of Decatur also survive Judith. Judith also leaves behind her three sisters, Patsy (Austin) Sevener of Pittsburg, PA, Donna Randle of Danville, Karen (Joseph) Klinger of Otterbein, IN, her brother, Kenneth Barnard of Bismarck, IL, and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Her husband Bud, son, Buddy Powell, brother George Barnard Jr., and sister, Cathy Barnard precedes Judith in death. The Powell family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Velasco and the Cancer Care Specialists for the compassionate care that he gave their mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, and friend for the last 6 years. In addition, a special thank you to the Hospice nurses from DMH. A Celebration of Life service for Judith A. Powell will begin at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with internment to follow at Johnson Cemetery in Danville. Visitation for family and friends will take place at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home located at 2827 N. Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 5pm-8pm, and from 11:00am until time of service on Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
