Joyce Ping

Joyce L. Ping, 86, of Bismarck passed away on Dec. 24, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Joyce was born October 19, 1935 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Hugh and Esther (Painter) Moss. They preceded her in death. She was married to Jim Ping from 1957 until his death in 2008. She is survived by her two children, Kirsten (Mike) Kraft of Lebanon, IN and Kip (Teresa) Ping of Loveland, OH; four grandchildren Abby (Matt) Ping Lehmenkuler, Allison Kraft, Levi Ping, and Alex Kraft; her great-grandson, Luke Lehmenkuler; her sister, Jan Price of Newport News, VA; her sister-in-law, Linda (Bill) Marion of Danville; several special nieces and nephews; her church family; and numerous friends.

Joyce was a 1953 graduate of Bismarck High School. She attended Manchester College for two years before attending ISU Normal and graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

She taught at Gridley High and then at Armstrong High, then returned to her alma mater, Bismarck High School, where she taught Home Economics. She taught at Bismarck until her children were born. In 1977, she returned to teaching at Rossville and then again at Bismarck-Henning, where she retired in 1985. After retiring from teaching, she worked at the County Clerks office in Danville for several years.

Joyce was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Bismarck. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and baking, but her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved husband and family.

The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday Jan. 2, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St, Danville. A celebration of Joyces life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at Northside Church of Christ in Bismarck, with Jim Russell officiating.

Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck. Memorials may be made to the Northside Church of Christ. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
