Joyce Newnum

Cayuga, Ind. - Elenor Joyce Newnum, 74, of Cayuga, passed away at 6:33 p.m. EDT Thursday, October 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born December 12, 1938 in Bismarck, Illinois, the daughter of the late William Scott and Mary Mageline Bennett Woodard. She first married Ralph"Bunny"Swaim, Jr. who preceded her in death. She later married Paul Eston Newnum on December 9, 1995. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2006. Survivors include two brothers, Bill(Sandy)Woodard and Paul"Cork"Woodard both of Cayuga, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Betty Woodard; Ardella Foster; Evelyn Randolph; Mona Thompson and Bobbie Tryon; brother-in-law, Joe Daniels; Nephews, Bill Woodard, Jr.; Scott Woodard; Charlie Woodard; Paul Hamilton; Danny Daniels and Donny Daniels; Nieces, Debbie Smith and Cindy Wilson and several great nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Daniels; brother, Charles Woodard; sister-in-law, Edna Woodard and a niece, Amy Woodard. Joyce was a member of the Kingman United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family, singing in the church choir and was active with the Tangier Covered Bridge Festival and Cayuga High School Alumni. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Monday, October 21, 2013 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Ken Majors; Burial: Tangier Cemetery in Tangier, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. EDT Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingman United Methodist Church.
