Joyce A. Mizell

Joyce A. Mizell, 76, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 7:01 p.m. on July 1, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Joyce was born on September 17, 1949, in Champaign, Illinois, the daughter of Ora V. and Ida Mae (George) Hansbraugh. She married Dennis Mizell on February 14, 1991, in Danville, Illinois, and together they shared many happy years of marriage. Dennis survives.

Joyce is also survived by her children, Timothy (Shannon) Knight of Tolono, Illinois, Troy Knight of Tilton, Illinois, Robert (Rhonda) Mizell of Phoenix, Arizona, and Stephen Mizell of Phoenix, Arizona.

She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tyler (Kylie) Knight of Danville, Illinois, Abbie (Brad) Taylor of Danville, Illinois, Troy Allen Knight Jr. of Oakwood, Illinois, Matthew Terrell of Washington, D.C., and Amanda Vance of Phoenix, Arizona; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Taytum Shea Knight of Danville, Illinois, Rory LeeAnn Taylor of Danville, Illinois, and Keagan Mizell of Phoenix, Arizona.

Also surviving are her siblings, Pat (Chuck) Hazelbaker of Fithian, Illinois, William Hansbraugh of Russellville, Arkansas, and Kathy (Al) Irvin of North Little Rock, Arkansas, along with several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her infant twin sons, Stan and Dan Knight; and her brothers, Vernon Hansbraugh and Larry Hansbraugh.

Joyce retired from TeePak after many years of dedicated service. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and caring for her beautiful flowers. Above all else, Joyce treasured time spent with her family and loved creating lasting memories with those she held dear.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, Illinois 61834. Troy Bennett will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's memory to a veterans charity of the donor's choice.

Joyce's kindness, strength, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
