Joyce M. Elmore

CATLIN - Joyce M. Elmore, 79, of Catlin, passed away at 3:26 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Anderson, Ind., to Kenneth Audrey and Paulene L. Stewart Van Huss. She married Jerry K. Elmore in 1949 at United Methodist Church in Anderson. He survives. She also is survived by a son, David Elmore (Tammy) of Catlin; daughter, Charlene Cornett (Steven) of Tilton; brother, William K. Van Huss of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Myretta Fitzsimmons of Tilton, Richard Wagner of Danville, Randy Tinder of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ryan Elmore of Catlin; four step-grandchildren, Amanda Overmyer of Champaign, Jodi Cornett of Champaign, Stephanie Cornett of Mobile, Ala., and Tricia Roberts of Champaign; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Danny Elmore; daughter, Debbie Sheets; and sister, Donna Van Huss. Joyce was a graduate of Anderson (Ind.) High School and had been a member at Catlin United Methodist Church. She retired from JC Penney after 24 years. A service to celebrate the life of Joyce Elmore will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the funeral home.
