Oakwood- Joyce Lea Harrington, 79, of Oakwood passed away at 12:36 AM on December 9, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on March 22, 1932 in Arcola, IL to Francis Marion and Helen Sexton Bright. She married John E. Harrington on May 23, 1953 in Arcola. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2008. Surviving are two daughters, Teresa Marie (Charles) Hazelbaker of Powder Springs, GA and Carla Ann (Allan) Ierardi of Urbana; two sons, Dan Michael (Christie) Harrington of Oakwood and John Patrick Harrington of Danville; two sisters, Kay Atteberry and Martha Ehrsam; grandchildren Vito, Rosalie, Bryan, and Deby Ierardi, Summer Rassas, Flahnery (Frank) Ybarra, Ashley (Chase) Carter, and Wynter (Arturo) Peguero; and great grandchildren Mark, Janea, Giselle, David, Joseph, Frank, Timothy, Mario, Mercedez, Antonio, Vincent, Dezarieh, Christie, Gabriel, Solome, Jasmine, Orion, Journey, and Bella. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ronnie and Jerry, sister Rosemary, and a grandson, Nathan Hazelbaker. Joyce was a devout Christian, and had attended the Church of the Living Water. She loved music which included playing the piano and attending concerts with her family. She also loved taking nature walks, enjoying birdwatching along the way. Joyce was an avid reader and often would be cooking or sewing. Very important to Joyce was her love for helping others and spending time with her family. A service to celebrate the life of Joyce Harrington will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Inurnment will follow at Danville National Cemetery in Danville. The family will accept friends from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service.
