Joyce Hurley

Joyce Catherine Hurley, 76, of Champaign, passed away at 11:37 pm, Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at home. She was born on the family farm in Heron Lake, Minnesota, on January 9, 1946, the daughter of Emil and Benita (ne Fest) Christopherson. She is survived by her children, Nikki Csiki (Rob) of White Health, Illinois, and Steve Hurley (Courtney) of Mansfield, Illinois; her grandchildren, Aidan and Lilka Kay, and Sloane, Ripley, Leeloo, and Fletcher Hurley; brother, Jerry Christopherson (Deb); brother-in-law, Terry Bramel; sister-in-law Marilyn Fest; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Bill Fest, sister Judy Bramel, and brother Neil Christopherson (infant). Joyce was a Master Gardener, cultivating her own beautiful garden spaces and sharing her vast knowledge of plants and Natures beauty with others. She also enjoyed bird watching and provided numerous feeders and houses in her yard to encourage a large variety of avian visitors. Her true passion, however, was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In keeping with her love of the natural world, Joyce will receive a natural burial, allowing her body to become one with the Earth. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery, 802 N. Cunningham Ave. Urbana, Illinois, and attended by immediate family. No visitation will be held. A Celebration of Life will occur for friends and family at a later date.
