Joyce Ann (Thedens) Higgins

Joyce Ann Higgins, 89, of Rantoul, IL went to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Gibson City Annex, Gibson City, IL.

She was born April 16, 1935 in Anchor, IL, a daughter of Charles and Clara (Fasking) Thedens.  She married Allen Higgins on April 24, 1955 in St. Johns Lutheran Church, Anchor.  He preceded her in death on June 15, 2020.

She is survived by 3 children, Robert Higgins of Rantoul; Robin (Don Holderly) Giebel of Fisher; Kevin (Kristi) Higgins of Bloomington IL, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson Chris Giebel.

Joyce owned and operated several laundromats with her husband.  She was a member of the American Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School.

She was a past leader of the Girl Scouts and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.  She and her husband loved to dance and travel. Her devotion to her yard will be forever remembered by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Monday at American Lutheran Church, 500 Church St, Rantoul.  Rev. Aaron Dawson will officiate.  She will be buried beside her husband at Eden Park Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Lutheran Church.
