Joyce H. Freed

Covington, Ind. - Joyce H. Freed, 74, of Covington, passed away at 7:40 p.m. CST Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She was born June 26, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Flora Shoaf Alexander. Joyce married Robert George Freed on June 29, 1957. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2011. Survivors include one daughter, Debra Freed of Covington, Indiana; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Nikki(Don)Decker of Peoria, Illinois and her dog, Rudy and cat, Tesa. Joyce was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Joyce retired from Peterson/CCL in Danville, Illinois in 1989. She was a 1957 graduate of Cayuga High School. Joyce enjoyed reading, knitting, going to flea markets, working on plastic canvas and camping in Sullivan, Indiana. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EST Monday, February 10, 2014 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Keith Warner; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EST until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
