Joyce Faulkner-Lewis

Joyce Faulkner-Lewis, 95, of Danville, peacefully passed away at her home at 7:10 PM, Saturday, September 1, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Joyce was born July 9, 1924 to John and Florence Ulmer of Easton, Pennsylvania. For 35 years Joyce and her late husband Robert G. Faulkner, ran and operated the Danville Dairy Queens on East Main and West Fairchild Streets.

In 1979 Joyce married William B. Lewis of Danville, who proceeded her in death after 36 years of marriage. She was recently proceeded in death by the passing of her granddaughter Nicole L. Faulkner who died Aug 14, 2019.

Joyce is survived by two children, Cheryl Bolser-Lyons (Fred) of Tilton, and Mark S. Faulkner (Brenda) of Danville, five grandchildren, Mark C. Bolser (Bridgette VanEtta), Robert S. Faulkner, Brandon Faulkner, Ashley Faulkner, and Alexander Faulkner. Five great grandchildren, Kaelin Sager, Owen Bolser, Kristopher Bolser, Madelyn Bolser and Scott Faulkner.

Joyce was a member of Central Christian Church. She was president of the Vermilion Hills Country Club, President of a Delta Theta Tau Sorority, a member of the Danville Professional Womens Club, and drove for the Red Cross for 10 years. Joyce also loved taking care of her home, yard and flower gardens. She was an animal lover that always enjoyed her pet cat Frosty and her parkette Pudgy that were at her side in the end.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and always enjoyed hosting the family on Christmas day with a special formal dinner on Christmas evening.

Joyce had a wide circle of friends, most of whom preceded her in death. She was the closest of friends to Dick and Barbra Elliot, who she missed so dearly after their deaths.

A Private Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 14, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, 3940 N. Vermilion Street Danville, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. As per her wishes, there will be no visitation.
