Joyce (Etchison) Cox, 87, passed away on April 29, 2020 at Danville Care Nursing Home. She was born on September 21, 1931, the daughter of Alberta (Jones) and Russell Etchison. She married Marshall D. Cox Sr. on November 11, 1951.
Joyce leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Marshall; two sons, Marshall D. Cox Jr. and Floyd E. Cox; six grandsons; one adopted granddaughter; twenty great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; as well as two half-brothers and two half-sisters
Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Cox; both of her parents; her stepmother and stepfather; two brothers; one grandson; two great grandsons; and one great granddaughter.
Joyce was a member of the First Church for 46 years and sang in the choir. She taught Sunday school and would regularly plan funeral dinners for families that have lost a loved one. Joyce was known for her pies and was also known as "The Laundry Lady." She made 32 work and witness trips all over the world and once received the Distinguished Mother Award and the Heritage Award. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed dearly by her family.
