Joyce Briggs

Joyce Briggs, 76, of Westville, IL passed this life at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at her home with her son, Davey, and daughter, Lisa, beside her. Joyce was born on March 15, 1943, in Westville, IL, the daughter of Albert James and Georgette (Vallangeon) James. Joyce and David Dave were married '55 years' in Danville, IL on June 25, 1960.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Lynn Nargelenas (Romas) of Westville, IL and son, David Lee Briggs, Jr. (Cheryl Tartaglia Briggs), formerly of Georgetown, IL; four grandchildren, Michael (Rachael) Nargelenas of Mahomet, IL, Amanda Marie Nargelenas of Vincennes, IN, Emily Jo (Briggs) and Will Jennings of Springfield, and Erika Lynn Briggs of Tilton along with her friend, Tyler Ramsey; and three great grandchildren, Kylar, Murray, and Baker Nargelenas. Other survivors include: her sisters, Betty Anne Young (Ron) of Westville and Georgette Puzey of Catlin along with her special family friend, Ben Smith of Catlin. Joyce was blessed with several nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved and enjoyed speaking with. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert & Georgette James of Westville; two brothers, Ronnie & Albert James of Westville; and two sisters, Winifred Wini Bolser of Westville, IL and Carolyn Hays of Westville, IL.

Joyce was a hard working house wife and mother. Joyce was, along with her husband, son, and daughter, a 'die-hard' St. Louis Cardinals fan, Illinois fan, and a Westville Tiger fan. She enjoyed working daily in her yard and her wonderful home in Westville. She enjoyed her neighbors and those that drove by as they waved to say hi, with many stopping just to tell her how beautiful she kept her yard. Mom (Joyce) rarely left her home for it was her comfort zone. Joyce loved to cook for her family. She (Grandma) mostly loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow. She was blessed with very active and loving children (Lisa & Davey); grandchildren (Michael, Amanda, Emily, and Erika) which too kept her happily & proudly busy. She would make sure that 'everyone else" was taken care of first before herself.

Grandpa (Dave) would always be sure to arrive to all family events first, always reserving a seat in the front row for his wife, Joyce whom would be close behind. They were always together, never missed anything. Joyce was so well liked by everyone, in many cases, people she didn't even know, but people that her husband (Dave) knew. Moms final resting place was in her front room, near her couch she laid on daily and nightly to enjoy her favorite shows, including the Voice and American Idol, not to mention all the country music awards. Joyce was a Coal Miners Daughter (loved Lorretta Lynn) and had lived the life a girl with a Coat of many Colors (Dolly Parton).

Joyce also enjoyed her backyard rock garden, once a swimming pool that has so many memories with friends and family. Mom did not swim, but she kept the pool ready and cleaned on a daily basis, always ready for others to enjoy as she enjoyed watching them. Finally, one last hobby Joyce and her husband Dave left a memory of was their beanie baby collecting so all four grandchildren had a "full" collection
