Oakwood - Joyce A. Redman, 89, of Oakwood passed away at 4:00 AM on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on February 11, 1924 in Gibson, LA, the daughter of Cecilien and Armenia Legrange Giroir. She married Donald E. Redman, Sr. on December 12, 1945 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1987. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Redman of Pflugerville, TX; three sons, Donald E. (Marcia) Redman, Jr. of Danville, David (Marlen) Redman of Georgetown, and Bruce (Cindy) Redman of Oakwood, IL; a brother, Sonny Prestenbach of Morgan City, LA; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dorothy Harrison. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Allen. Joyce had attended Oakwood Christian Church and enjoyed sitting on the porch, walking, flowers, and bowling. Most of all, Joyce loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Joyces family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Colonial Manor Nursing Home for their compassionate care over the years. A service to celebrate the life of Joyce Redman will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Dave Birch will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, August 1, also at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Memorials may be made to Oakwood Christian Church.
