Josia L. Miller, 61, of Danville passed away at her home with her family by her side at 4:16 PM on August 24, 2025. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer and is no longer suffering. She is rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Josia was born on November 10, 1963 the daughter of Carl and Jacqueline (McQuaid) Way in Decatur, IL. She married Timothy A. Miller on October 30, 1982 in Danville, IL and he survives.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy A. Miller of Danville, IL, her mother, Jacqueline Way of Danville, IL, her children, William (Holly) Miller of Danville, IL, Jacqueline Miller of Danville, IL and Jordan (Emily) Miller of Danville, IL, seven grandchildren, Charlotte, Autumn, Morrigan and Giovanni, Zachary, Isaiah, and Nicolas, as well as two siblings, John (Remi) Way of Los Angeles, CA and William (Deborah) Way of Georgetown, IL.
Josia is preceded in death by her father, Carl William Way.
Josia worked at Danville Community School District 118 and later worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Danville for over 20 years. She attended Georgetown Friends Church and enjoyed spending her free time studying Civil War history, watching old movies, listening to music; especially the Rolling Stones, collecting Funko Pop characters, and was exceptionally talented at trivia. Josia was the one you wanted on your trivia team for certain! She was also an avid Chicago Blackhawks hockey fan and cheered on the Chicago Cubs.
The transformation from a casual fan at a hockey game to a rowdy one was phenomenal. It took one hard hit into the boards and she became a different person. One of her favorite sayings was "high sticking should be allowed at work." Had she ever played, she might never have left the penalty box. Her favorite player was Patrick Kane who she said many times was a "hottie."
One of her favorite hobbies was acting. She participated in a few local productions. She had recently performed in a group headed by a good friend, Greg Duckett. She had the ability to make people laugh. It gave her joy to make others laugh.
She was a loving wife and mother as well as a loving grandmother. She could soothe pain when her family was hurting but she also had a sharp tongue when she had something to say. Yet, once she had said what was on her mind, it was in the past and she moved on.
Josie had many favorite passages she relied on to help her through those difficult days. Her two favorites are Psalms 56:3 and Psalms 23. She would read them over and over to give her peace.
We love you Josia Lee Miller and will always miss you but you are in a much better place. We will walk with you again.
