Josephine Lewis

Josephine Lewis, 93, of Danville, passed away on December 31, 2013 at Gardenview Manor in Danville. She was born on December 18, 1920 in Danville, the daughter of Joseph and Vernie (Crites) Kuyrkendall. She married Harry Newell and had two sons, Charles (Janette) Newell of Covington, IN and Larry Newell of Danville. After Harry passed she married Richard Lewis and had one son, Richard Allen Lewis of Indianapolis. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Uncle Russ and Aunt Delores Kuyrkendall of Georgetown, IL and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, six sisters; Annie Stevens, Bonnie Bland, Hazel Moody, Betty Garrison, Nellie and Mary Tuggle, three brothers; Wayne, Harry and Robert Kuyrkendall. She was a religious homemaker most of her life and loved reading her Bible daily. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching her religious shows on television. A celebration of Josephines Life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor James Blue officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00-12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Springhill Cemetery.
