Josephine 'Josie' Fleming

Josephine F. Josie Fleming, 83, of Urbana, formerly of Danville, passed away at 12:42pm on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Champaign County Nursing Home in Champaign, IL. Mrs. Fleming was born in Chicago, IL, on March 19, 1926, the daughter of Mr. Stanley S. Karkut and Mrs. Josephine E. (Mezydlo). On January 16, 1956,Josie married Mr. William J. Fleming in Chicago. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2000. Survivors include one son, William P. Fleming of Downers Grove, IL, two daughters, Mary Kay (Jack) Shaffer of Danville, and Cynthia Fleming (Terry Bell) of Urbana. Two grandchildren, Courtney (Chris) Brown of Danville, Matthew Shaffer of Danville, one great-granddaughter, Eryn Alexis Brown and a very special sister-in-law, Mary Lockard of Arizona. Her parents, one brother, and three sisters, preceded Josie in death. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and being with family. She was a member of the St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville. A Catholic Mass Service for Josephine Fleming will begin at 10:00am on Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. Pauls Catholic Church located at 1303 N. Walnut Street in Danville with Father Greg Nelson to officiate and entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3p-7p, with a Rosary at 6:30pm, on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville.
