Joseph Wilczynski, 97, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the VA Illiana Hospital in Danville. He was born on August 24, 1923 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Joseph married Alta Mae Elf and they were married for 40 years and they had 3 children, Mary JO (John) Reed, Joseph (Sandy) Wilczynski Jr, and David (Diana) Wilczynski. They had a total of 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Joseph enjoyed watching his Wrestling and his Pittsburg Steelers but, what he really enjoyed the most was spending time with Ashley and Luis, his granddaughter. He enjoyed when they would take him to the River Boat.

Joseph worked at Esco for 45 years. He started working in Portland Oregon then moved to Danville IL. Joseph was a WWII Army Veteran and the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was one of four brothers who was hurt during WWII.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
