Joseph Mcdermott

Joseph E. McDermott, 88, of Danville passed away at 4:05pm on Sunday February 15, 2009 at North Logan Healthcare Center. Joe was born January 26, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Nora (Veale) McDermott. On July 31, 1946, he married Dorothy M. Peters in Chicago. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2008. Joe is survived by his daughters Donna (Butch) Petit of Hernando, MS, Judy (Mick) Divan of Danville, and Joanne Ciaramita of Wisconsin. Dearest grandfather of Deanna (Matt) Harris, Matt (Celene) Brown, Cheri (Tony) Harlow, Tom (Darcee) Divan, Story (Richard) Moreno, Ray (Kim) Petit, Josh Ciaramita and great grandfather of ten and a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Joe was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army, from October 1944 to February 1946. He was awarded multiple Bronze Stars. Joe retired from Tee Pak in February 1981 after 35 years of service. Joe enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball and card games with friends and family. A celebration of Joes life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday February 19, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of the service at 3:00pm. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will be private. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
