Joseph L. Carpenter

Joseph Carpenter, 71, of Danville, passed away at 7:42pm, April 16, 2021, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, on May 18, 1949, the son of Joseph L. and Eva {Sparks} Carpenter. He was united in marriage to Sarah Cook on June 6, 1987, until her passing. Joseph will be missed by: his children, Joseph (Penny) Carpenter of Danville, Markus (Wendy) Carpenter of Danville, Corrina (Michael) Hardin of Danville, Christopher (Amanda) Carpenter of Hegeler, Johnna (Ryan) Keller of Hymera, IN, & Kristy Carpenter of Champaign; his 34 grandchildren; his many great grandchildren with many more on the way; his sisters, Georgia Carpenter of Danville, Linda Baldwin of Covington, IN, & Mary Teagarden of Danville; and his friend, Steve (Karen) Myler, as well as many bar friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, Jamie Williams, his brother, Bob Carpenter, and his sisters, Sally & Ruth. Joseph enjoyed going golfing and fishing, as well as doing woodworking. He was a silent owner of the Danville Chargers Youth Football. He was known as a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears, as well as rooted for the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. He loved his dogs Molly & Bubba and his pal, Tiny, who had passed. Joseph loved spending time drinking beer with his family and friends and will be eternally missed by all whose lives he touched. A visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm, Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 prior to his service. A Graveside service will then be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Songer Cemetery, Tilton, IL, with Pastor Jean Rumple. Memorial donations may be given in his name to American Cancer Society. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by attendees.
